In celebration of 30 years making game-changing bassoons, Bernd Moosmann has released the Anniversary Series model bassoons seen here. This anniversary series represents tremendous value to players – these are truly bassoons that can last a lifetime.
Each of these models – the 24C, 100CL and 200CL – have the same basic features. They include a compact model design (the bell joint is elongated to make the joints more equal in length), Bosnian Mountain Maple body, and nickel-silver tubes protruding into the bore. What makes them different is wall thickness.
The M24C utilizes the mid-wall thickness prevalent on our student model M-series instruments. This bassoon is ideal for the lifelong casual player – it includes upgrades not seen on typical student model bassoons, and enough staying power to serve a player for many years to come. It is also a great “middle step” for performance students who will ultimately trade up for a professional-grade bassoon.
The 100CL and 200CL have dramatically different performance characteristics from one another based on their wall thickness and the different acoustical treatments given to the 100 and 200 series Moosmann bassoons, respectively. The 100CL utilizes the professional model (150E) thin wall platform, while the 200CL utilizes the professional model (222CL) thick wall platform. The size and location of the toneholes are also completely different on the 200 series Moosmann bassoon, which is reflected in the 200CL model.
